Deadlines Subscription FAQs:
Q: How many deadlines will I receive each month?
A: This depends to some degree on your interests, however I aim to send each artist a minimum of 3 and average around 5 each month.
Q: What is the time commitment for the subscription?
A: There is no time commitment. Artists can sign up for month-to-month service and stop at any time, however mid-month cancellations will not be refunded. At times I offer an annual subscription which is discounted, and cannot be refunded once begun.
Q: Do these opportunities have application fees?
A: Many open call opportunities have application fees, however I select ones that I feel have the most potential benefits and do try to seek out ones with no fees.
Q: What types of deadlines will I receive?
A: I will base the opportunities I send out on the information given to me by the artist in the Questionnaire. I aim to offer a range of quality opportunities that are both local to the artist, and around the rest of the country as well as international if of interest to the artist. These can include: residencies, juried shows, solo shows, curatorial projects, grants, awards, fellowships, online sales platforms, publications, public art RFQs, art and craft fairs and educational opportunities.
Q: What stage of an artist’s career are these deadlines for?
A: I send out deadlines based on wherever each artist is in terms of their career, however I do cater towards artists who already have some exhibition experience.
Q: How much time will you notify me before a deadline?
A: I aim for a minimum of 2 weeks in advance, or 3-4 weeks if the application requires extensive work or advance planning.
Q: I’m not sure I’m ready to apply for things. Will the subscription be beneficial to me?
A: I believe knowing what opportunities are available regardless of if you apply this time around is valuable. Many artists I’ve spoken to frequently feel that they don’t know how to move forward, or what next steps to take. Starting to learn about some of the possibilities can be informative and encouraging. Annual subscribers will have the opportunity to see what types of things are available over the course of a year which will help them to become more strategic about their choices.
