What am I missing out on?

Many artists don’t realize the range of opportunities available to them. Here are some of the things that have open calls and ongoing submission policies:

  • Grants

  • Monetary Awards

  • Residencies - local and abroad

  • Fellowships

  • Publication opportunities for artists, critics and writers

  • Art fairs for artists

  • Solo Exhibitions

  • Curatorial Projects

  • Workshops and Professional Development

  • Performance opportunities

  • Juried exhibitions

  • Two and three person curated exhibitions

  • Start-up money

  • Project Funding

  • Art Advisors/consultants and selling platforms looking for work to sell and reproduce

  • Help during medical or financial emergency or unexpected loss

I have also seen open calls for material stipends, chances to meet with magazine editors to discuss your work, projects that allow you to work with specialized equipment, celebrity funded projects to print your work 3D. There are also organizations and initiatives aimed at helping underrepresented voices, artists whose work engages social justice and activism, or projects that cross over into other industries and fields. New opportunities are popping up all the time and these are just a few examples of the possibilities.

These opportunities are almost all public and can be found through research. The value of what I am offering comes in a consolidation of this information from my own personal years of research and accumulation that I will sort through to find the opportunities you would actually interested in and that would be worth your time. Also, with my subscription, I will notify you of upcoming deadlines with enough time to prepare a solid submission so as to eliminate the last minute crunch to throw together a rushed application.

Lastly, my ultimate goal is to help develop the Los Angeles art community into a place where opportunities are spread around to a wider swath of people. Many opportunities circle around the same group of artists as well as certain demographics. One way I believe we can affect change is to have more voices being considered and to emphasize those that have remained invisible or unrepresented. It’s a lofty goal, but I believe small steps can make a difference and I’m here to help.
