Apply to Artist Grants in 2023
/I am so excited to tell you that the 2023 Grant Deadlines Subscription is now available! The subscription starts January 1, so why not sign-up now and be all set for 2023?
Since 2019, the Subscription has grown from being limited to Los Angeles artists to becoming available to artists across the US. The first year I sent around 30 grant and monetary award deadlines, and this past year will reach 50 deadlines. These are all chances for you to get some money in support of your practice, and many of these deadlines offer other career benefits such as publications, mentorship, jurors who will become familiar with your work, exhibitions, and prestige.
I believe that we are not in competition with one another; that more people applying does not limit our opportunities, but shows that there is a real need for arts funding and in turn, perhaps, encourages these funders to do more.
In 2022, I applied for 13 grants, spent $95 in application fees, and received one grant. While these may seem like grim statistics, I have applied to SO many grants, and many of them year after year, that it does not take much time for each application anymore. The grant I did receive I applied for twice (was rejected the first time and got it the second time) and it was incredibly helpful. There have been years when I haven't received any grants that I applied for. This is common and unfortunately normal within our country's limited support for artists, so if this is you, don't let it deter you! Maybe 2023 will be your year.

For those of you who are able to pay more, I am offering $35 and $50 levels. The subscription is exactly the same, regardless of what you pay. Those extra bucks will allow me to spend some more time including even more regional grants across the country and I think $1 per grant is still a bargain!
