During the COVID-19 crisis, I am offering sliding scale support for Visual Artist Emergency Relief Grant applications. This includes proofreading and editing statements, formatting and editing CVs, reviewing draft applications to confirm they follow all guidelines and help with other requirements, as-needed.

ARTIST RELIEF

Artist Relief will distribute $5,000 grants to artists facing dire financial emergencies due to COVID-19. Received over 25,000 applications on Day 1. As of 7/20, 80,000 applications received; 1,000 Recipients.

  • Cycle I: April 8 - April 23 (closes 11:59pm ET) CLOSED

  • Cycle II: April 24 - May 21 (closes 11:59pm ET) CLOSED

  • Cycle III: May 22 - June 18 (closes 11:59pm ET) CLOSED

  • Cycle IV: June 19 - July 23 (closes 11:59pm ET)

  • Cycle V: July 24 - August 20 (closes 11:59pm ET)

FCA EMERGENCY GRANTS COVID-19 FUND

  • One-time $1,500 grants to artists who have had performances or exhibitions canceled or postponed because of the pandemic

  • FCA will continue to focus its support on artists making work of a contemporary, experimental nature.

  • Applications taken on a rolling basis

ILSYM 4 ARTISTS GRANT

  • $500 grant to an artist with financial need whose main source of income has been compromised by COVID-19 shutdowns.

  • Grant being offered through week of 6/11, will continue if more funds are raised

ADOLF AND ESTHER GOTTLIEB EMERGENCY GRANT

Intended to provide interim financial assistance to qualified painters, printmakers, and sculptors whose needs are the result of an unforeseen, catastrophic incident, and who lack the resources to meet that situation. Each grant is given as one-time assistance for a specific emergency, examples of which are fire, flood, or emergency medical need. 

While we recognize the economic toll of the Covid-19 crisis, we regrettably are not able to assist with funds to replace lost or interrupted income.

  • No deadline

  • up to $15,000, average grant is $5,000

  • Must demonstrate minimum involvement of ten years in a mature phase of his or her work.

  • Artists must work in the disciplines of painting, sculpture or printmaking.

  • Not COVID-19 relief, however illness is one of the emergencies that this grant provides assistance for.

  • Deadline July 31st or when 450 applications are received, whichever comes first

CCI - RELIEF FUND FOR LA COUNTY VISUAL ARTISTS

  • Now closed. Deadline was May 25, 2020 at 5:00 p.m

  • Offered grants to Individuals for up to $2,000.

  • Total Funds distributed: $700,000 to 400 artists “who reflect the cultural and geographic diversity of L.A. County”

ACTOS DE CONFIANZA: NALAC MICRO-GRANTS

  • Now closed. Deadline was April 16th, 2020 at 4:00PM Central Time

  • $500 micro-grants for short-term emergency financial assistance

LIFTS GRANT AND COLLECTING INITIATIVE

  • Now closed. Final cycle ended 5/29

  • Offered $10,000 to 10 artists - a $5,000 grant plus $5,000 purchasing artwork

WEST COLLECTION: EMERGENCY FUNDS FOR VISUAL ARTISTS

  • Now closed

  • Over three days, assisted 169 visual artists with emergency funds totaling $154,800.

SOZE FOUNDATION ARTIST AND ACTIVIST RELIEF FUND

  • Currently wait-list only as they raise more funds

  • In the first six days received 6,148 applications

WCCW COVID-19 EMERGENCY HEALTH GRANTS FOR ARTISTS

  • Now closed

  • Received over 500 applications in 5 days

ARTIST RELIEF TREE

  • Currently closed as over 3500 applications already received

  • Wait list only and may open again if additional funds received

  • Awarding $250 grants on a first come first serve basis

  • as of 6/18 has raised $414,556

ANONYMOUS WAS A WOMAN

  • Now Closed, closed cycle early and almost instantly due to flooding of applications

  • Distributed $250,000 in grants, up to $2,500 per artist

EMI KURIYAMA EMERGENCY RELIEF AWARD LOTTERY

  • Now closed

  • Offered two $500 grants to a Los Angeles based visual artist and writer

The Artist’s Office also offers a subscription for Visual Artist Grant Deadlines, which sends out notifications about upcoming grant deadlines. These are not specific to COVID-19 and consist of artist grants offered throughout the year.
